24/12/06 Just come back from a great surf session at Saunton sands in Devon and it's looking really good for boxing day if you fancy it. Saw a few faces today in the car park too which was great and even managed to squeeze down a free mince pie from the shop. By the way that's not DJ's car but what a cool surf wagon!

Anyway here are a few updates for you all including: Toubkal, Elbrus and snorkelling in Bonaire. Plus if you have any penny's left you may be interested in the range of DVD's and books now available including: Surfing DVD's, Surfing books & guides, Kilimanjaro guides, Toubkal guides, Sea fishing DVD's, Carp fishing DVD's.

Hope everyone has a great christmas and an even better new year. Looking forward to seeing some of you over the holidays. Bye for now Tris

09/12/06 A big thankyou to everyone who was on the Toubkal trip. It's was a great group, a classic climb and the weather couldn't have been clearer. The Atlas mountains are full of possible trips. More on this trip will follow.

As we have already mentioned the Manu Jungle trips are being sorted out and William sent me a picture from the last trip. Yes he did catch it with his hands. Of coarse he let it go again but it's a great way to view Caiman and learn more about them. Interested?

Anyway as the christmas shopping gets underway i just thought i would mention a top link to check out. (Fire Box) More information on a couple of christmas period trips will be added here in the next week or so. T.Bawn
30/11/06 Well the winter climb of Mount Toubkal in Morocco kicks off tomorrow but we will be back in a weeks time with all the trip details and plenty of pictures. Fingers crossed for good weather. As you may have noticed the site is changing a fair bit and we have just been given the go ahead to sell jungle trip in Peru. Just the start of a great selection of life changing trips which will be available for 2007. More on these changes after the Morocco trip including a free trip to the mountains for anyone wanting to have a go at winter walking. The Inca Trail report and the jungle fishing has been added to the site and the other reports will follow. All the slide shows can be viewed by clicking on the pictures below.
And finally calling all cod anglers. The Cod are back in the channel and we caught a few yesterday as proof. More on that trip too. 2007 is shaping up to be a good year, make sure you are a part of it. T.Bawn

21/11/06 WOW what a month. The Peru trip was a huge success and included many amazing trips like walking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and a long trip into the Amazon jungle. We managed to surf in the north of Peru, paddle the local fishing boats, visit more ruins than we ever thought possible and saw plenty of the big cities too. We even managed to go diving and snorkelling in Bonaire on the way back which rounded the trip off nicely. We met so to many cool people on the trip to mention but you know who you are. We have plenty of pictures of the trip with all the information aswell just incase you feel inspired to go. All we be added in the next week.

More coming soon including walking in the Atlas mountains in december. T.Bawn & V.Stowe

18/10/06 Finally we are off to South America! So far we have planned to see the Inca ruins, maybe Bolivia, a jungle experience and a stop in Bonaire in the Caribbean for a session of relaxing and water sports on the way home. Whilst we are away the Bristol Surf club will still be heading off to the coast for regular surf trips if you are interested. A great bunch of people to surf with.

Please be patient with any emails sent from now until the end of November. I will add any links and update info as soon as i get home. Plenty planned for when we are back so keep posted. See you all soon T.Bawn & V.Stowe

12/10/06 A few updates including: We had a very eventfull Severn Bore trip which ended in somebody being hit by a boat and myself being dragged under a tree but more on that later, the pike trip with Alastair ended with one small jack pike but a great trip anyway (i'll collect the beer later Al! lol), the trip down to Ladye bay was productive and a few nice sized strap conger were caught, Jebel Tobkal in the Atlas mountains has been booked for december and we are almost off on out trip to Peru. More will be added soon explaining all of the above. Plus don't forget to check out the following: Kendal Mountain film festival 11-19 November. T.Bawn
24/09/06 What a great week of surf! Unfortunately work got in the way but we did manage to get a session in today at Llangennith. The conditions were great with an off shore breeze holding up nice clean waves between the 2 and 4 foot mark. Managed a few long and smooth rides which made up for missing the swell in the week. Also picked up a 9'3" board @ a bargain. Think i'll try it on the Severn Bore on October the 8th. Let me know if you want to come along. We are starting to build a group and are thinking of making a short film of the whole experience. More things are being planned for the next couple of months but there will be a break for 4 weeks when we head out to Peru. Also check out the cool Dvd's and books you can now buy in our temporary shop. See you all soon. T.Bawn
11/09/06 After so many years of wondering what it would feel like to ride the Severn Bore we were finally rewarded with an epic first encounter. After a disappointing attempt at Newnham which found myself cocking it up and Steve grounding on a sand bar we jumped into the car a headed up stream near the bore Inn where we were greeted by a fairly empty clean wave. Before i knew it i was on the bore and riding upstream. What a ride! I think i may be hooked for life. And a thankyou to the bloke who let me ramble across his garden when i finally fell off and scrambled up the bank. There is a bore on october the 8th which we will be attempting so if you want to come along even just to watch drop me an email. More pictures from the weekend can be seen by clicking on the picture to the left. More in the week. Bye. T.Bawn
04/09/06 The weather wasn't very kind to us in the week but we still managed to most of what we set out to do, mainly relax! The world bog snorkelling was a great day out and although we didn't enter this year we certainly came away with plans for next year. The bad weather wasn't so good for the walking we had planed but we did manage to climb Snowdon. No view still alot of fun. The bad weather did however bring in the surf a little and we managed to get a couple of sessions in at Hells Mouth. We also had a good hunt around for the other local breaks an found to many to surf! Lots of plans are running through my head, probably to many. All in all a great break and a much needed rest. Click on the pictures to watch the slide shows. Next weekend the Severn Bore..Gulp! T.Bawn

24/08/06 Where is all this crap weather coming from?. The trip got canceled last weekend due to heavy downpours and flat surf but we did manage to get a trip to the the Brecons. A very wet one but it was still time in the mountains. You can view this trip by clicking on the picture to the left.

Anyway there is plenty going on in the next 2 weeks including a carp fishing trip, a week long surf/climbing trip to north Wales and on the 9th & 10th the Severn Bore. Stayed tuned and have a cool bank holiday. T.Bawn

14/08/06 After a bad start to the week the weekend turned out great for all concerned. The climbing in Chepstow with Andy was excellent with so many climbs to go back for! On sunday the trip to the black mountains was cooler than the previous walks but the views were stunning. And more mountains were spotted on the horizon! All the pictures from these two days can be seen by clicking the the picture to the left and right.

This weekend coming we are off to the Black mountain caravan camping Park for the weekend and will be trying to get in a surf on the Gower and a trek into the mountains depending on the weather. And there will be the odd barbie and beer too! Fancy coming along let us know by email. T.Bawn

08/08/06 A great trip to the river bank kick started an interesting weekend which involved a few beers and a nice trail through the Frome Valley. More pictures from that walk to follow. We have been busy recently with plenty of trips planned for everyone to join in with. Here are a few. On the evening of the 18th of August we will be heading to St. David's in Pembrokeshire for a weekend of camping, surfing and generally enjoying ourselves. If you want to come let us know asap so we can sort the transport out. Whilst on the surfing side of things, the Bristol surf club and ourselves are planning on surfing the severn Bore in September (9th-10th) as mentioned before. The plan so far is to camp in the forest of Dean, surf the Bore and then party it up. If you want to surf or just come away for the weekend then also let me know asap.

And last but not least i am hoping to enter the world bog snorkelling championship this year and would love to meet others on race day. If you want to know what the hell i'm talking about click on the following links. Green Events , Llanwrtyd Wells T.Bawn

25/07/06 A nice weekend which included a trip to the Black mountains (see below Mynydd Llangattock) and a surf session in Llangennith where i managed to snap my leash!

Plenty of updates for you to check out including the following:

Lots of trips planned including surfing the Severn Bore in September. We want to surf it, film it, photo it and we also need drivers an a support team. So if you fancy any one of those let me know asap so we can arrange things. T.Bawn

13/07/06 Perranporth was an excellent choice for out little get together and was full of thrills and spills. Not only did we have some fun on the sides and rotating climbing wall but we also managed to get e few surf sessions in too. Oh an drank a few beers aswell! More pictures from this trip will be added soon. A possible surf session on sunday the 16th if anyone is interested. Anyway some more news soon on planned trips and the shop will be open with lots of goodies to buy. Bye T.Bawn

04/07/06 I have just been sent an email from Lisa @ BBC3 who is looking for people to star in the third series of "wedding stories" They are looking for couples who, not only are interested in taking part, but have a great story to tell the public, or are just having an unconventional style wedding.  One of the areas they are targeting is people interested in 'extreme sports' especially if their forthcoming wedding reflects their sporting interest. To find out more about this great chance to get yourself on TV click on the following link and get in touch with Lisa. Wedding Stories. T.Bawn

03/07/06 A couple of updates on the site for you all including a successful summit for the guys on Mount Elbrus last week, more on that great news coming soon. You can check out that Barbel session last week by clicking here. We are off to Perranporth this weekend for a bit of a surf and a good laugh so if you are around drop us an email. Surf is looking OK and hopefully we will have plenty of sun! More than on saturday when the picture to the right was taken anyway! Lots of trips are in the pipeline but i could do with a hand organising a few of them so if you want to volunteer for this also drop me an email. Possible trips include zorbing, giant skate fishing, surfing mid Wales, climbing in the Lake district, to name a few. Sound good? Anyway have a sunny week and i will be back with a few trips planned and ready for you all to jump aboard. Bye T.Bawn

26/06/06 What an amazing four days!! To many PB's broken on the fishing front to mention. So as you can guess the Barbel trips to the upper Avon were a real success. More on those trips to come but we also managed to get in two pretty cool walks in Somerset which we have slide shows for and can be watched by clicking on either of the following: Crooks Peak + Cross & Westhay Peatland Reserve. Oh yeah and England beat Ecuador!! Portugal next?!?! Lots more to be added this week so stay tuned folks. T.Bawn

16/06/06 Back online a last!. Well the Mount Blanc trip didn't quite go to plan and instead we climbed a few others mountains in the area. Still an amazing trip with lots of great stories and really great weather. More on the trip and mountains we did manage to climb coming soon with plenty of information for anyone planning a trip there soon. Plans are being made for a few more surfing and climbing trips so stay posted for them. More will be posted here in the coming week. Finally click on one of the pics to see the slide show. T.Bawn

30/05/06 A disappointing weekend for the surf with just a blown out crappy wave at Llangennith for the monday surf trip. It was more like being in a tumble drier in high winds, and the rip was incredible. Anyway the online shop we be coming very soon with some great bargains so keep your eyes peeled for that and the Alps trip is almost upon us. The weather on Mount Blanc is looking OK...fingers crossed! The surf trip to Costa Rica is underway and is going to be booked soon if anyone else is interested? Will be leaving around the 25th of November and staying for two weeks. And one other trip we are thinking of organising is a day of caving over in Wales which involves following a underwater stream on its route through the mountain to the valley which sounds a caving trip not to be forgotten. Finally we are off line for a couple of weeks now (moving!!) but will resume asap with all trip information and updates by email. Bye. . T.Bawn

22/05/06 The weather report for the weekend was crap so we decided to prepare things for South America and the trip to the Alps. So to my surprise at 8:30 I had a miss call from Andy who was on his way to Avon Gorge. Along with Andy, Scott was also on his way down south so we just had to go and see what they were up to. The wind was fairly breezy but for most of the morning the rain stayed away and they managed to get a climb in. After the one climb and a RAC call out we met little Lawrence(Junior Caird) for the first time which was really cool and already he is practicing his grip by trying to pull plates of the table lol. Climbing world watch out! Oh and sunday was wet!!! Anyway it's looking like a trip to north Wales this weekend so will keep you posted. T.Bawn

14/05/06 After a few very heavy showers on saturday we headed up into the Brecon Beacons to walk a route with included Fan-Y-Big. It turned out to be a great trip with only the occasional white out from low cloud and of coarse the famous picture on the diving board had to be taken! Although Vicky wasn't so keen... NO NO NO NO LOL.

Myself, Andy and Matt are off to the Alps to have another go at Mount Blanc in the beginning of June so keep posted for that one. Plenty of stories from that trip i'm sure. One last thing to mention is an event called the Rat Race. Anybody interested in joining our team. We are looking for more people especially women to make the team mixed sex. Drop us an email. Bye for now.

08/05/06 What an epic weekend! It started with meeting Andy in the car park in saunton on friday afternoon. On the evening we had a session which was truly one to remember with clean, thick sets 4-5 feet peeling in. After a few ciders and a catch up on the friday night we also grabbed a session on the saturday which was great a the pictures from that day will follow soon. After returning to Bristol i thought my surfing was over for another week until Vicky and Kate decided they wanted a piece of the action.

So we also took a trip back on sunday which was a blast and great to meet some of the Bristol surf club there too.

One more thing to mention aswell for all you climbing fans, the climbing trip that Andy took to Bon Echo in Canada can now be seen on the following link or by clicking on the picture above. A great write up T.Bawn

02/05/06 A bit of a disappointing swell on the weekend on the Gower with monday being the only day which was surfable. And although a little blown out there were a few big sets pounding in every now and then. Most of the weekend consisted of watching the sea and plenty of coastal walks with scrappy (the dog). Lots of Kite surfers about though and something i am thinking of planning soon if anybody is interested. I have had a few people mention it already so let me know. More planned for the weekend and will be added here in the week. T.Bawn

24/04/06 Sunday was a bit of a strange surf session! It all started when we arrived at Caswell & Langland bay on the Gower coast in the south of Wales. The sea was as flat as a pancake and not a breath of wind in the sky. So after a bit of thinking we decided to check out Llangennith which is situated at the very end of the Gower and to our surprise it was a couple of feet. And the hour either side of hide tide brought plenty of clean thick sets which were perfect for a long smooth ride. A top place when the conditions are calm everywhere else. Meanwhile Grant has been Snowboarding off piste at the Stubai Glacier in Austria. Pictures from that coming soon. Andy has been climbing in Scotland, covering some great climbs and has currently got a very busy calendar so plenty more routes, stories and adventures coming this year. T.Bawn

19/04/06 Didn't really end up in Newgale for the easter trip due to a change in rules as regards to dogs this year but instead found an absolute gem of a site, a great surf break and an easter trip which will never be forgotten. Camping on a cool site on the outskirts of St.Davids we had a crack at Whitesands bay. We were all impressed by the surf, especially the wave which peels of the rocky headland on the right of the beach and even managed to get a few pictures of us surfing courtesy of Vicky. And we even had a visit from the easter bunny in the way of a small wild rabbit which decided to camp in our tent with us for a couple of days. More on the whole trip in the week including those surf pictures and more about the bunny. T.Bawn

********************* To watch the Easter surf trip slide show click here *********************

10/04/06 Caswell Bay was fairly small and messy on saturday but a nice set came in every now and then from the point on the left hand side. And Vicky had to christen her new board which she did in style. Can't believe it was snowing around the country whilst we had all of the sun!

South America has been booked and so far includes Peru (Manchu Pitchu trek, surfing, Lake Titicaca), Bonaire (Windsurfing, snorkeling, caving, diving, jungle trek) and a possible two week trip to Costa Rica to take in the surfing etc. More on that soon.

Finally the easter trip has arrived. For all who are going we will see you at Newgale campsite on thursday night for a beer. Lets hope the surf picks up. T.Bawn

06/04/06 A top gig last weekend in the Croft with the-get-outs and some other great local bands. More pictures from this gig will be added soon. We have finally put together a great write up from David Mortimer on the 10th Belgium International Land Rover Event. You can also view the slide show from this event by clicking here. It's really worth a read. As for this weekend we will probably be off for a surf on the sunday(9th April) to somewhere like the Gower coast so if you fancy it drop us an email. And not forgetting the easter trip is the following weekend but more about the plans on monday. Looking like summer is nearly here.... yippee!!!!! T.Bawn

27/03/06 The surf @ Putsborough didn't disappoint this weekend, with plenty of sets peeling in from left to right and reaching up to about 4 feet and fairly clean at times. Still managed to get my ass kicked a few times though! Fairly busy but well worth the trip down. Staying on the surfing theme, the easter trip is being sorted out and if there is anything you want to know or need drop me an email and we will see what we can do. Only a couple of weeks now!

Just in case you missed the slide show for 2005 you can now view it by clicking on the following link: uk-active 2005. T.Bawn

06/03/06 What a great weekend! Well as predicted Stuart's 30th at Ilfracombe was full of birthday cake, gas chambers, prairie fires, spitfire, beach walks, surfing, funny stories (growth injections) and a few hangovers too. All in all a top trip. Be back to Ilfracombe soon i'm sure for more of the same, all we need now is another reason or something else to celebrate! Surfing was fairly small @ Saunton sands but with a nice set turing up every now and then which was probably just aswell due to all of the excitement on the nights. More trips planned soon including a possible trip to north wales to test out the surf there and get a bit of climbing/scrambling in. Interested in meeting up drop me an email. Need more sleep now!! bye T.Bawn

27/02/06 Well the weekend started off great with a short kite session down the local park with Alastair and friends. The pike match didn't quite go to plan with the loss of three pike in the match! Best fish of the day was the chub to the left. Don't forget this week is Severn Bore week and you can find out all of the tide time s on the following website:- The Severn Bore. Also this weekend is Stuart's birthday trip down to Ilfracombe for a few beers and a bit of a surf amongst other things so if you're in the area let us know. More coming soon. T.Bawn

22/02/06 Finally a ski lesson which went really well and even ended with myself and Vicky flying down the slopes without taking out the netting at the bottom although there were a few small falls!! But only a few brain cells lost and everything was good. Bring on the snow! You can see some of the best pictures from Andy's climbing trip in Canada here:- Climbing in Canada. There is also some great gear on offer through uk-active.co.uk on the Gear Zone page. The trip to Ilfracombe on the 4th and 5th of March is sorted which should be a blast and the easter trip is getting there. Let me know if you are coming to that one. And finally thanks for all the birthday cards and presents over the weekend. Much appreciated. More to come on the weekend. T.Bawn

13/02/06 What can i say about the trip to the Severn? Umm sorry lads! Well no Zander but Alan did get a Pike around 8lb. Although he was the only one who caught in the drizzly rain for which we got up at 5am for! At least myself, Dave and Matt had plenty of exercise strolling miles along the bank lol. Still don't be put off this area because although it didn't go our way the river has a lot of potential for future trips in the summer.

On a different note we are off skiing on the dry slope on the 18th of Feb and surfing in the Gower on the 19th if anyone would like to join us. And lastly there is talk about surfing the Severn Bore in the end of March so if you are interested lets talk. T.Bawn

06/02/06 A weird S2 Ski lesson for two weary beginners this weekend which resulted in some hairy skiing into the netting at the bottom of the slope lol. Grant has returned from Canada with many Snowboarding stories and lots of cool pictures which you will be able see soon. Oh an a cold for his troubles. After popular demand i have started a section of fishing links from around the world which you can check out here:- International links. On sunday we have eight people going on the trip to the river Severn for a fishing session which is looking really good. Should catch a few!

And finally the easter surf trip to Newgale is on again this year. We will be leaving on the evening of the 13th of April and planning on leaving on the 18th of April. Of coarse you can come and go when you want, but numbers would be handy to know because I have talked to the campsite owner and she will reserve a nice dry corner for us. Should be a great easter break. You can check out some of what we have got up to in the previous years by visiting the following pages from last year. Newgale trip 2005. Easter Break. Newgale. T.Bawn

30/01/06 After a fairly busy weekend we took a trip up into the western side of the black mountains which turned out to be a perfectly clear day with amazing views. And we came across something which we can't really describe apart from saying it was like finding a field of ice stems. Pictures can be viewed here.

Also a trip to the river Severn is being planned for the 12th of Feb and will cost £2 each for a ticket.

But i need to know asap so i can get the tickets in advance, preferably before Feb the 2nd. Lots of barbel and zander on the stretch so it should be a great day. About 7 going at the minute so plenty of people driving if you need a lift. More in the week on those ice thingys?!?! T.Bawn
23/01/06 An eventfull weekend to say the least, mostly on the fishing front. After an interesting trip on the river after the barbel which resulted in more trout than anything and a Pike on the sunday was an unexpected and nice surprise. But a bit of a surprise for Vicky who helped with the netting, not her favourite fish lol! Anyway South America was in the conversation on sunday with lots of ideas flying round so things are moving forward. And on thursday night we went for a drink with the Bristol Surf Club which was great and the members were very friendly. They go surfing most weekends when conditions allow and there is a varied mix of ability so check them out. Lots of trips to come i think! T.Bawn
14/01/06 Well an interesting surf session yesterday at Caswell Bay. Both myself and Grant got battered by the surf but there was the odd big clean set in between the blown out storm surf so worth the trip. One hell of a rip out the back this time of the year too!?!?. A little cold changing in the car park after dark though lol. T.Bawn

10/01/06 A few updates to mention first. Caving at Goatchurch , Ski lesson at High Action and a few surf updates:- Llangland Bay, Caswell Bay. Well the surf is looking up all around the country at the minute so it would be rude not to oblige mother nature and have a session. So on friday @ 12.30pm we are leaving for the Gower coast for the afternoon. The surf is being predicted for around 4-6 feet so if you want to come drop me an email asap. Also the beads are selling like hotcake's so let me know if you want a pair saved back. Only £1 each. A bargain!! bye. T.Bawn
02/01/06 Happy new year to everyone linked with uk-active and everyone visiting the site. 2005 was a really cool year with loads of amazing trips. And loads of new friends have been made which i have a feeling will result in many more amazing trips! But the question is can 2006 be even better? Well with a few trips already in the pipeline it's not looking to bad. Plenty of things to burn off the excess mince pies over christmas anyway. For example Zorbing, Climbing, Fishing, Surfing, Hiking, Skydiving and many more. Interested? Let me know and come an join in. Over the break we managed to get a few trips in including a ski lesson which will be followed by more i'm sure. Plenty of fishing trips on the rivers. One of these trips can be viewed by clicking here. On new years day myself and Grant took a trip to Caswell Bay on the Gower coast for a very memorable surf trip. The waves were coming in about 5 feet and were very clean. A great trip. And of course new years eve was a great night and great to see everyone too although i think i lost about the last hour?!?! T.Bawn

Check out what we got up to in 04 & 05.
