Clovelly (North Devon)

Clovelly- Clovelly is only a small place with a breakwater and a pebble beach. You have to park at the top in the car park and walk down a very steep cobbled street. Walking back up with a bag full of fish could be testing.

You can catch cod, whiting, conger, dogfish, bull huss and plaice from both the beach and the breakwater. Ray can be caught in spring, mackerel and bass in the summer. There are restrictions on fishing at certain times from the breakwater in the summer months.

Usually baits like mackerel, peeler crab and squid work well for the rays, dogfish, cod and bull huss, with ragworm and lugworm working well for the plaice and whiting. Float fishing thin strips of fish, squid and sand eels in the summer work well for the bass and mackerel.
