Route on OS Explorer OL12: Start at the car park (couple of quid for the day) *GR928124* Leave the car park and walk straight ahead onto the path directing you to the caves. With the river on your right hand side follow the path to *GR928099* Sgwd yr Eira or falls of snow. Cross under the falls and follow the path up steps, stay on this path heading south across Cilhepste-fach and Cilhepste-cerig to *GR901077* in Pontneddfechan. Here you will find and information point and toilets with routes marked out on a board. Here you cross the river and follow the path north along the river to *GR898092* where you to come to a bridge at Pwll Du ar Byrddin. Cross over the bridge and take the path on the right which runs alongside the river. This will eventually come to a picnic area at *GR907105*Walk onto the road and cross the bridge. Take the first available turing on the left back on the path. With the river on your left hand side, follow this path to *GR913116* take the path right, heading through Pont Rhyd-y-cnau to a road at *GR917117* turn right and follow the road to the end. Turn left here and take the first available turning for a footpath on your right. This will take you back to the car park at *GR928124*

This walk is one of the best in Wales if it's waterfalls and stunning scenery you are after. Not only does it have Sgwd yr Eira or the "falls of snow", but many others all along this route. There is also a lot of wildlife and fauna to look at along the way, not forgetting the many cave entrances to look at.

It's not an easy route to walk and involves a few steep decent's and accents but if you are relatively fit it should take you around 5-6 hours at a steady pace. The paths vary from muddy/rocky trails to grassland and tarmac roads. A good pair of walking boots are recommended. You will also need those water proofs for crossing under the falls and are probably a good idea to have in your bag anyway being Wales!
