Gareth, Dave and myself decided to take a trip to the indoor climbing centre in Bristol.

Gareth had already got a membership card and had previous training there so we went on his card as guest's. After a bit of discussion at the entrance I was aloud to get a membership card due to previous absailing and climbing experience which meant that I could climb safely.

The climbs that are available here are so vast and some look near impossible to the beginners eye, but there are some really good climber's who attend this centre and they amazed us with their techniques.

From our point of view it was just a case of picking a coloured route which looked testing and giving it a crack. Planning our routes and testing moves out. We managed to get up a few routes ok but sometimes grace was very much missing from our techniques! Gareth had obviously done more climbing than myself and Dave and it showed in his climbing.

We were just starting to work out how the grading of each climb worked when it was time to go home. Arms aching, eyes opened to climbing and a sense that we would be back very soon we decided to call it a day. Climbing is a great sport and something we will definitely be taking up. We are beginners really so if anyone out there would like to suggest any tips or techniques we would be very grateful to hear from you.
