These pictures were taken on a saturday afternoon visit to the Undercover rock climbing centre in Bristol. Five of us decided to take a trip and try to improve our bouldering skills

When we started climbing regularly we never really thought we would spend that much time in the boulder room for some strange reason.

But as you progress you soon end up spending more time in there practicing moves, hand holds and techniques than you do out on the main walls.

You have that much more freedom without the ropes and if you mess a section up you can stop rest and give it a crack as many times as you like with out your mate who is belaying waiting around.

As you can see from the pictures there are plenty of great routes and overhangs to practice on here and if you are wondering what the white specs in the pictures are, its the flash reflecting off chalk powder floating around in the air.

The great thing about playing around in the bouldering room is the difference it makes when you get back on the wall. Our climbing has improved alot from just practicing gripping the hand holds and moving around trying to balance out our bodies more. Not only that it's a great laugh taking it in turns trying to do better than your mates.
